In retail and hospital environments there will be additional responsibilities depending on the employer.
Generally, technicians in the hospital and nursing home environment will have more responsibilities than technicians in a drugstore.
Pharmacy techs work directly with the pharmacist and patient.
Because they work closely with internal and external customers, having interpersonal skills is essential.
While there is no real degree required to become a tech, most employers are preferring candidates that are certified by the state.
This is not state or federally mandated, but is expected to be as the demand for new technicians continues to grow.
