How to Get the Steel Stopper Out of a Sink
- 1). Place a crescent wrench on the sink stopper nut and turn the wrench handle down toward the floor. You may have to remove and replace the wrench several times until the nut loosens completely.
- 2). Pull the stopper control rod out of the backside of the drain pipe. The ball on the end of this rod holds the tail of the stopper down in the sink drain.
- 3). Pull the stopper up out of the sink drain hole. Remove the tangled hair and gunk from the tail of the steel sink stopper. Reassemble, if desired.
