Waste Disposal to Keep the Planet Tidy
When I was a child, my parents always taught my brother and I to throw all rubbish in the bin. If we had sweets or crisps when we were playing out then we were told not to throw the wrapper on the floor just put it in your pocket and when you get home pop it in the bin. This was assuming we couldn't find one outside of course.
Times were different then because we were brought up to respect our surroundings and be aware of people and wildlife. I followed this guideline with my children and it was quite funny when five kids came home and emptied their pockets and I found wrappers of treats I didn't even give them. They even used to do litter picking in our street would make all our friends do it as well.
We have come a long way with all the recycling we do now. We wheelie bins in all colours some in black for all household waste, green for recycled paper and plastic. Now I have a green box for my glass so we have something for everything and that is just at home. At the supermarkets and even the dump now, you have to separate all rubbish and recycle it in to different categories. I am not a regular visitor to the tip but I am happy it is being done. I am happy that my local council has taken recycling and waste disposal seriously. However with anything there is always a positive and negative point of view.
Below are some of the main points I feel for both.
Positives
Waste being reused rather than thrown in a land fill.
There is less waste causing pollution.
There is less impact on the environment, like the glaciers and animals around the planet.
It helps to cutting our carbon footprint.
We use much less trees and other natural resources by reusing them again and again.
Negatives
Workers are careless and untidy, often dropping items and leaving them on the street.
All these boxes and bins take up a lot of room.
It is a time consuming process separating all your waste in to recycling categories.
I am sure most people dislike having the food waste bin in the house as it does tend to get very smelly. It also attracts vermin and insects so needs to be emptied nearly every day or more depending on the size of your family. More effort required but I have now saved myself a lot of trouble by getting a Waste King Waste Disposal Unit. It fits under the sink and all my food waste goes in it with water running it grinds it all and flushes it down and out through the drain so it can be processed without sitting in my kitchen for any length of time. It is so easy to use and a welcome edition to my home.
It has taken people quite some time to adapt to the recycling idea naturally and we are supposed to be cleverest species on the planet yet we are the ones destroying it for not only future generations of our own species, but for all species that live here.
I think waste disposal should always be top of the agenda and planning should be continual to limit further damage to this planet. We took on this way of thinking about waste disposal years ago but quite half- heartedly but we are still behind many other European countries when it comes to waste and recycling though Americans have been using waste disposal units for many years.
Something that irritates me is that if we all made an effort to make even the smallest change we would soon be on track. When I see kids throwing litter on the floor when there is a wheelie bin near them I do shout to them to pick it up and put it in the bin. I believe it should start young at home and follow through to schools which should educate both children and parents in waste disposal and management. Parents aren't teaching their children then maybe it would help if teachers could. We need our children to care more about the future than the current ones do.
I don't believe anyone can be totally ignorant about these issues from the people that throw rubbish outside to those that stock pile rubbish in your homes. There is nothing as important as saving our planet so wise up and get a Waste King Waste Disposal Unit and save yourselves lots of time and effort please.
