Edmund and Lucy Pevensie, along with their cousin Eustace, are swallowed into a painting and transported back to Narnia and the magnificent ship The Dawn Treader. They join King Caspian and a warrior mouse named Reepicheep for a mission which holds the fate of Narnia itself.
The courageous voyagers overcome their own greatest temptations, as they travel to mysterious islands; have fateful confrontations with magical creatures and sinister enemies; and reunite with their friend and protector, the "Great Lion"
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, based on the book by C.S. Lewis with the same name, will be the official third film in the series.
Production was put on hold when Disney chose not to produce the film after a budget dispute with Walden Media, who then negotiated with 20th Century Fox to replace them.
Fox officially joined Walden Media on January 28, 2009.They announced a December 10, 2010 release date shortly afterwards. It was announced on March 23, 2010 that the film will be released in Digital 3D in select theaters, along with its wide 2D release.
Edmund and Lucy (Skandar Keynes and Georgie Henley) return to Narnia with their cousin, Eustace (Will Poulter), onboard a ship called the Dawn Treader, where they meet with Caspian X (Ben Barnes), now King of Narnia. Peter and Susan do not return because they have learned all they need to in Narnia, though the characters are to be making cameo appearances at some point in the film, as portrayed by William Moseley and Anna Popplewell from the first two films. Tilda Swinton will also be making another appearance as the White Witch. Trumpkin, the dwarf, from Prince Caspian, portrayed by Peter Dinklage, will not be returning.
Eddie Izzard in 2009 said he will not be reprising his role as Reepicheep which left Simon Pegg with the role. Filming was completed in November 2009. The first trailer was released with Toy Story 3 on June 18, 2010. A new trailer was released November 9, 2010
