    Ignition Amplifier Module

    • The ignition amplifier module in a Range Rover converts magnetic impulses from the distributor to electronic signals that start the ignition coil. Heat buildup during engine idling can cause the ignition amplifier module to stop and start, resulting in engine stalling. Loose wire connections on Range Rover ignition amplifier modules can also lead to poor gas mileage and stalling.

    Ignition Pickup Module

    • The Range Rover ignition pickup module turns the ignition coil off and on and controls the flow of current through the ignition coil. The base plate next to the vacuum advance device in the Range Rover can move during normal operation, causing the ignition pickup module wires to press against the rubber seating and ultimately snap, resulting in engine hesitation and starting problems.

    Mechanical Timing Advance Mechanism

    • The Range Rover's mechanical timing advance mechanism in the distributor can seize, resulting in impaired engine starting and poor performance. This seizing often occurs due to lack of proper lubrication.
