Deer hunters know the name Moultrie Feeders is synonymous with trail cameras. Moultrie has been delivering some of the best outdoor products to hunters for over 25 years. In fact Moultrie is one of the premier deer management products companies in the world.

The 2013 Moultrie trail cam lineup is really strong but we are just going to focus on the top two most popular trail cams. In this review we will be taking a more details look at the Moultrie M880 and the Moultrie P150. Both trail cameras are great choices but are completely different and have different applications.

Moultrie M880 Trail Camera
I would consider the Moultrie M880 a mid-priced camera. You can grab one at any outdoor retailer for around $140. For this price you get one of the most well equipped trail cameras available. The infrared flash will not spook game which is a must for serious deer hunters. One set of batteries will last over 6 months which is pretty good. The trigger speed is around 1 second which is well suited for a feeder or even a trail.

Moultrie P150 Trail Camera
The Moultrie P150 is a much different trail cam. The P in the model name stands for panoramic. The Moultrie P150 is capable of capturing panoramic images after the PIR is triggered. This means you can place the trail cam on a field edge and actually get a picture of the entire field. This is a really cool feature and something that you should be looking for if your hunting lease has larger food plots.

My only concern with the Moultrie P150 is the movable camera head. The motorized head moves to capture three different trail camera pictures. The software then processes all three pictures into a single panoramic image. The moving parts could ultimately be a maintenance concern. The camera is new and I have not heard any reports at this time but I did feel it was worth mentioning.

The M880 and the P150 have exceptional day and night time picture quality. Day time pictures are crisp and clear. You will also not be disappointed with the night time pictures. Moultrie has always done a good job at providing adequate flash strength.

Both of the new 2013 Moultrie trail cameras are great choices. If your hunting area is dense timber then you should be considering the Moultrie m880. The Moultrie P150 might be a better choice is your hunting area is more open with large fields. For the price and the features you really can not go wrong either way.
