The Real ID Act of 2005 is intended to combat terrorism, ID theft, and other crime by strengthening the precautions of state-issued ID credentials.
The act calls on states to execute a set of bare minimum national standards in numerous areas: Information and security so-called-safeguards that must be incorporated into each license.
Proof of who you are, DOB, SSN, lawful citizenship, and primary residence address.
Verification of the source ID provided by every person applying.
The edict requires a person desiring to penetrate a Federal structure, fly on an aircraft or open a credit account to show the Big Brother recognized Real ID or a passport.
It would also put every Real ID holder in a centralized database.
Sounds good, but the reality is that the Real ID destroys on our privacy and invites hackers to steal personal details without making the US safer from terrorists or deterring illegal immigration.
Regrettably, Real ID is a disaster waiting to happen.
