How to Saw Concrete
- 1). Snap a chalk line on the concrete area to be cut. A chalk line is a hand-held container that holds powdered chalk. When the string comes out of the container, a fine layer of chalk remains on the string. When snapped, a straight chalk line remains.
- 2). Place a 1-by-6 along the chalk line to act as a straight edge to score the concrete.
- 3). Score a line with the concrete saw along the 1-by-6 as you walk backward on the board. Cut the line about 1/4 inch deep.
- 4). Remove the 1-by-6 board and cut the rest of the way through the concrete. The cutoff saw with a diamond blade is designed to run at high speeds with little pressure. The scored line will guide the saw and cut a straight line.
