The Required Lunch Break in Maryland
Maryland Labor Law
- Under the laws of Maryland, employers have no obligation to provide breaks to workers over 18 years old. If an employer offers breaks, however, he does not have to pay workers for breaks of 20 minutes or more provided the worker is free to leave the work site during the break. A worker younger than 18 must get a 30-minute break for every five consecutive hours he works.
