Reflections by Jill - A Weekly Commentary for OLTL for August 3, 2009
I guess we are supposed to believe that Asa is alive and well in the form of a ghost who has decided to come back to make his presence known on the wedding day of Clint, Nora, Viki and Charlie. Hmmm, I think this might be stupid storyline #25 of this summer. I’m sorry to say that I gave Renee a lot more credit than to go to Madame Delfina in order to channel Asa’s spirit because she misses him so much.
Oh, and Asa just happens to come across with the numbers 7, 11 and 14 which we can’t figure out until Renee tells us that she was Asa’s 7th, 11th and 14th wife. Is she proud of this? As much as I love Renee, she has always been a fool for Asa and his antics. So, back at the ranch (LOL, Asa’s lodge), the pre-wedding dinner is about to take place when the banner Natalie ordered arrives and says, “Congratulations Clint and Viki, Bo and Nora.” Sure, that was Asa’s doing, as was leaving that newly wrapped wedding gift for Clint and Viki. Oh, and let’s not forget the lights going out which gave Nora a chance to go outside and meet up with Bo. Of course, Clint really believes Asa has come around to join the party. Yes, he would believe that.
Actually, I was thrilled that Nora and Bo finally got thrown together for some alone time, which led to them having quite a nice little kissing session. It’s too bad that they are both so riddled with issues and other garbage that they don’t have the nerve to come right out and say they want to be together and call off Nora’s wedding to Clint.
They are both shaken up, which drives Bo to go to none other than Lindsay for help. I figure that Bo needed a lot more help than I thought if he went to Statesville Prison to ask Lindsay to talk him out of stopping the wedding. Bo figured that since Lindsay hates Nora, she could remind him of all the reasons he should let her go. But to my surprise, Lindsay did enumerate all the things Nora has done that should make Bo run the other way, but she then proceeded to tell him that it was obvious that he had fallen back in love with Nora and that he needed to go talk to her before she made a mistake. Was that the real Lindsay? I guess prison has given her a conscience because in the past, she would have been happy to do anything in her power to hurt Nora and try to get Bo for herself. I’m sure that Lindsay behaving sensibly will come to halt if she gets out of jail and if indeed Spencer is alive, she will get out.
To add even more icing to the idiotic cake which is Clint and Nora’s wedding day, Matthew decides that he has a sure fire way to get his parents to agree to his surgery. Unbeknownst to Nora and Bo, Matthew saw the kissing the night before and decides he’s going to blackmail his mom and dad. Great idea Matt! What are you thinking? Matthew promises that if they allow him to have the surgery, he won’t tell his Uncle Clint that he saw them making out. This is so out of character for Matthew, but he thinks he has to have the surgery or his life will be over. Nora and Bo are shocked that Matthew would go this far, but they don’t back down and challenge him to tell Clint what he saw. Matthew was about to do just that when his conscience kicked in and when confronted with Clint, he just gave him his blessing for the marriage and told Bo that he couldn’t hurt Clint. I don’t think Matthew has it in him to hurt his parents that way, but he will go to court against them now. I actually think that Bo and Nora would have liked it if Matthew blew the whistle on them. It would have taken the decision out of their hands and stopped the wedding they didn’t have the nerve to stop.
After Bo talked to Lindsay and Rex and after Nora talked with Rachel (who also urged her to come clean about her feelings for Bo) they both decide not to expose the truth, so the wedding will go on. I really think it is more Bo’s place than Nora’s to come forward first because even though Bo doesn’t want to hurt his brother, he has held his forgiveness from Nora for years over their past and even though he has said he forgives her, he really never did. Nora knows there is something between her and Bo but she tells Rachel that she doesn’t believe he has forgiven her or ever will. Nora has begged him over the years for forgiveness and believes she will never really get it.
Meanwhile, Viki and Charlie are blissfully happy, at least for the next five minutes. LOL! You only have to wonder how long their joy will last and with the pasts these two share, you can only imagine how close the next disaster will be. I’d really love to see Viki and Charlie be the one constant on the show. Viki deserves that for sure and Charlie is a good guy who has turned his life around and has a second chance at a happy family life. Oops, isn’t that the signal for gloom and doom?
And who is the person spooking Jessica and making her think she is seeing Nash? The weirdest think is that little Bree thinks she saw her daddy, too. Who is it? We know it’s not Nash, so what’s up? Haven’t Jessica and her personalities been through enough to last through a few months of peace? Sure, she has been doing so well and has a nice, new relationship with Brody, so why not freak her out again? Give me a break!
Well, Rex sure got what he deserved, didn’t he? He had himself convinced that keeping the truth from Gigi was the right thing to do and it came back to hit him right in the face. I was really angry with Rex when he told Bo that it was Gigi’s fault that he slept with Stacy, as if he had no say in the nasty matter. Rex had a great talk with Bo, but even that didn’t convince him to come clean. Bo tried to tell him that Gigi believed she had no choice in dumping him and making it believable because she had to protect Shane above all else. Rex is upset and rightfully so that she didn’t tell him what was going on, but Bo tried to explain to him that Gigi and Shane have been on their own for 10 years and she is used to taking full responsibility for him and her fear drove everything she did. Rex didn’t listen very well when Bo warned him that secrets always have a way of coming out and that it wouldn’t be good for Gigi to hear the truth from someone else.
