Silly Mistakes Made by Joomla Developers
Joomla is a very commonly used content management system used for developing websites, these days.
From blogs to business websites and online stores, many types of websites are developed in this platform.
However, not all of them get the success that they could get.
The reason for this are the most silly mistakes that the developers make while working on the site.
Let's see few of them.
Issues with Links Generally, there are two types of links (internal and external) in a website.
When a visitor(person) clicks an external link, the new page should pop-up on a new window.
The pop up opening on the same windows may throw your customers to somewhere else.
So, design your website in such a way that on clicking the external link, the pop up opens in a new window.
It enables the customers to stay on your website for longer, which could sometimes make them buy at least one of your products.
Furthermore, make sure that your website does not have any broken link, as it may hurt your image.
In case, there are some broken links, make use of a 301 redirect.
Copying and Pasting from MS Word As MS Word is the default tool everyone uses while preparing contents; out of habit, the developers just copy and paste that content form MS Word to Joomla editor.
However, this silly mistake may affect the font style of the content and take your website ranking down.
And, it may take a long time to bring it back on top position again.
So, it is always advised to copy the content into a notepad before copying directly into Joomla editor.
Not changing the default username While developing the website, most of the developers do not care about changing the default username form 'admin' to something else.
Only a few of them really know, that by going with the default username, they voluntarily give up half of the necessary access details to hackers.
As the username is known, the only thing needed for them to hack the site is the password.
And, in case the password is linked to the name or birth date (or something common) of the developer, it won't be tough to guess.
So first of all, you must change default Admin username.
It will save you from many security threats.
Not resizing the images Generally, many of the developers upload images in their original size to Joomla and then resize them to match the content.
Visually, this works, but the 'file size' of an image doesn't get change by this.
So if the developer is using extra large images, it will slowdown the page loading.
So, it is suggested to resize images using an image editors and then upload it.
Ignoring security Developing a website on Joomla is such an easy task that many of the developers ignore the security of the website.
In case, the website is an online store, then it will lose its reputation among customers very quickly.
Furthermore, a website with a low security measure takes too much of time to load which may annoy and the customers.
The online store may even lose its valued customers.
So, make sure that you add necessary plugins to make the site completely safe, secure and hence faster.
So, avoid these blunders in your Joomla development projects and get the desired success for your website.
