How to Practice Putting at Home
- 1). Review the free putting tips located on the Golf Tips website and the Putting Zone website. Both offer free tutorials that will help you improve everything about your putting game, including grip, stance and back swing. After you have reviewed a tutorial, stand in an open area of your home and practice that tutorial (for example, a “grip” tutorial). Repeat each lesson until you have mastered a particular skill.
- 2). Watch the instructional putting videos on SaveAMillionShots.com. This website hosts over 30 free videos just on the subject of putting. Use this website to learn and practice different putting stances, a pre-shot putting routine and even what to do when you've missed a putt. As with the tutorials on Golf Tips and Putting Zone, these videos allow you to practice putting techniques that don't even require a golf ball, and they can drastically improve your putting game.
- 3). Complete the putting drills located on the Keep My Golf Score website. These drills can be completed either inside a carpeted living room or in your front yard. Improve accuracy, distance, consistency and confidence by finishing these drills.
- 4). Purchase and use a practice putting green. Locate such putting greens wherever golf accessories are sold. The exact putting green you purchase will be determined by the amount of money you want to spend, open space inside (or outside) your home and the type of putts you wish to practice at home, such as uphill putts and flat putts. Remember to place your practice putting green on a flat surface.
