Graduation Invitation Questions
- Find out how many invitations your school will provide for you to give out and learn where you need to pick up the invitations. You may only receive a few, meaning you'll be restricted to inviting two parents and a sibling or two. Discuss with your family how to accommodate people who won't be able to attend. One idea is to bring a video camera to record the event for others to be able to watch later. Check whether your school plans to transmit a live video feed of the ceremony over the Internet.
- Know what time the graduation ceremony is scheduled to begin and determine how much time it might take to get from the parking area to the site. Factor in travel time and obstacles such as traffic and construction delays, as well as inclement weather. Use this information to designate a start time, and note when the ceremony is set to conclude, so invitees will be able to make sure they budget sufficient time.
- If you are attending school in a different region from where your invitees live, they may not be familiar with your local weather. Relatives who are used to a sunny environment will need to know whether they should bundle up for your ceremony, and people who live in cold and foggy regions should be aware that they might need to slather on sunscreen and wear a protective hat if you are graduating in the Sun Belt.
- Find out in advance from your school details about the location of the graduation site, such as whether there is easy access for disabled people, including wheelchair ramps and elevators. If people are expected to walk across a large expanse of grass, determine whether a disabled person on your invitation list will need to rent an all-terrain wheelchair for the day.
