    Thinner Skin

    • Continued exposure to UV rays makes the skin thin. This prevents the skin from healing and protecting itself. It can also lead to premature skin aging and skin cancer.

    Tissue Damage

    • The UV rays of the sun and tanning beds can penetrate deeper into the tissues. The tissue damage cannot be seen with the naked eyes until it is too late.

    Cancer Risk

    • Many experts are of the view that the UV radiation from both tanning beds and sun exposure can cause melanoma, a form of skin cancer. Over time, this exposure can be lethal for the body.

    Danger from Excessive UV light

    • When exposed to UV light of tanning beds or the sun, the skin manufactures pigment to save itself from burns. But excessive UV light can lead to serious problems. Besides damaging the eyes, it can also cause early wrinkling, blistering and rashes.

    Precautions

    • It is prudent to keep visits to the tanning salons to a minimum and restrict the time spent sun bathing. One should also always apply a good sun protection lotion. Otherwise, using bronzers or self tanners instead of tanning beds or sun bathing is a safer alternative.
