    Wreaths

    • Cover a foam wreath frame with fabric or ribbon to camouflage the foam. Hold the covering in place with hot glue or floral pins. Attach dried crape myrtle twigs to the face and outside perimeter of the covered wreath frame with hot glue or floral pins. Overlap the twigs to create a full wreath. Add holly berries, dried fruit, silk flowers, twinkle lights or beaded garland on top of the twigs to add design interest to the wreath. Wrap the lights and the garland around the wreath frame or hot glue dried, silk and fresh décor to the twigs.

    Frames

    • Create a rustic-style picture frame using small crape myrtle twigs and an existing wooden frame. Cut the twigs so that they are the same length as the four sides of the frame or leave the twigs longer to extend beyond the perimeter of the frame. Glue the twigs to the frame with hot glue; place them side-by-side and in stacks, whatever it takes to cover the frame. Add a cluster of dried crape myrtle flowers or berries to one or more of the corners to complete the twig frame.

    Baskets

    • Crape myrtle twigs that are similar in diameter work to make a decorative basket. Make twig panels equal to the dimensions of the four sides of the basket and another twig panel that fits beneath the sides to make the base of the basket. To make the panels, stack same-size twigs vertically with the space between the twigs at least as wide as the diameter of the twigs. The panels will fit together at the corners. To join the vertical twigs together, weave 22-gauge or larger craft wire over and under the twigs in a vertical row. Weave one wire 2 to 3 inches from each end of each panel. Weave the wire up the panel, around the top twig and then back down the panel. Twist the wire together at the underside of the bottom twig. Join the four panels together at the corners with wire and then attach the bottom panel using the wires from the vertical weave.

    Centerpieces

    • Spray paint long, thin crape myrtle twigs with a color that coordinates with your dining room. Metallic and pearlescent spray paint is also available if you'd like to add a special sheen to the centerpiece. After the paint dries, stand the crape myrtle twigs inside a cylindrical glass or crystal vase; fill the vase in with decorative glass beads around the base of the twigs to hold them in place. Wrap a small strand of twinkle lights around the twigs or dangle crystal prisms from the twigs to embellish the centerpiece.
