Senior Living in Sussex, WI
- Individuals over 65 can live in senior communities such as the town's Senior Citizen's Center. Senior communities are developments for older people who are still independent, usually under 80 years old, but enjoy the additional services of transport, laundry, housekeeping and security. Like most senior communities, this one has differently sized apartments for single seniors and retired couples. Prices are dependent on the level of care needed.
- The village of Sussex provides a low-cost senior shuttle service for all residents over 55. This service is for independent seniors and those who need ambulatory assistance. They pick up and drop off along routes for shopping trips and hospital visits. Individual tickets are just $3.00, as of 2010.
- Sussex Community Center provides senior services and events for residents over 55. The Center offers a meal program, fitness programs, art and craft programs, card groups, educational classes, day trips, and special events and parties. A bi-monthly newsletter, the "Center of Attention" gives details of up-coming parties, trips, games and fitness programs. At Christmas there's carol singing; at other times of the year there are regular movie nights at the center. Some events are free, some require a nominal fee to attend.
