Just a 35-minute drive from Salt Lake City, Park City, Utah offers historic town charm, a trio of ski mountains, and a barrage of year-round recreational and cultural events. Just as diverse is the town’s selection of vacation home real estate, including everything from in-town condominiums, tiny historic cottages that date back to the town’s mining days, golf-course villas, and pricey ski-in/ski-out residences in five-star hotels and impressive neighborhoods.

The best way to tackle your vacation home search in Park City is to first pick your favorite mountain. Park City Mountain Resort,Deer Valley, and Canyons each possess distinct personalities, catering to different demographics of vacation home buyers. Whether you prefer the upscale skiing-only vibe of Deer Valley, the hip new makeover of Utah’s largest ski resort (Canyons), or the family-oriented, snowboard-friendly Park City Mountain Resort, this Olympic town has something for every potential buyer. Here’s a look at what each resort has to offer:

Deer Valley:

Known for its immaculately groomed terrain, five-star hotels, and romantic summertime concerts under the stars, Deer Valley is the most upscale of the three Park City resorts. It also has a major drawback for many families: No snowboarding allowed. During the winter, Deer Valley is all about skiing, but during summer, Deer Valley offers several recreational pursuits. You can hook your mountain bike to the chair lift and spend the day riding the trails, or you can hike or bike your way to the top and ride the chair lift back down.

Scenic chair-lift rides also serve as a great way to explore the mountain and stop in for lunch at one of the various restaurants, such as the Royal Street Cafe, where you can sit on the deck and enjoy a blueberry mojito (Deer Valley's signature cocktail) and a bowl of the famous Deer Valley Turkey Chili.

Residential offerings in Deer Valley are scattered in three areas: Empire Pass at the top of the mountain, Silver Lake at mid-mountain, and Snow Park, located at the base of the mountain. Offerings include a mix of private homes, hotel residences, condominiums, and fractional ownership. Here’s a look at a few different possibilities:

Park City Mountain Resort:

For skiers and riders, Park City Mountain Resort delivers the most diverse collection of terrain, offering healthy doses of groomed runs, gladed areas, and challenging bowls, such as the elusive Jupiter Bowl, a must-do for expert skiers and riders. Park City Mountain Resort is the only one of the three resorts that has a direct connection to Park City's historic Main Street--via the Town chairlift--making it easy to take a break from the mountain for lunch and shopping. During summer, Park City Mountain Resort becomes an alpine playground with zip lines, mountain slides, and mountain biking.

Residential offerings near the Park City Mountain Resort include a collection of condominiums, quaint historic homes, and in-town residences. Here's a look at what's available in Park City:

Canyons:

Under new ownership, Canyons has dropped the "the" from its name and is undergoing a complete makeover. The resort struggled in the past to form an identity, but now new owners Talisker have infused the resort with millions of dollars all intended to make Utah's largest ski resort a premiere destination for visitors and vacation home owners. A cohesive base village features an award-winning restaurant, live music, and shopping.

The majority of the residential offerings—a mix of condominiums, hotel residences, and fractional ownership—are located at the base of the mountain.
