How does muscle confusion work? Does this style of training magically deliver the goods when your gains start to dry up, or is muscle confusion no more real than The Tooth Fairy? Muscle Confusion Myth or Fact? People are confused.
Why? The muscle magazines would have you believe muscle confusion is a secret muscle builder and an instant get-out-of-jail card when your workout or routine begins to 'stagnate'...
So what is muscle confusion, and how does it work? Muscle confusion suggests muscle building is curtailed when remaining with the same routine for any protracted period of time, thus making a change of routine necessary to safeguard any future gains.
But is this really true? Hmm...
let me answer that with a story...
Body Building Science I began my current routine over 2 years ago.
Since this time, I've used the same unchanged workout and have seen consistent results.
Moreover, I've yet to stagnate, or plateau, or regress, and fully expect to continue making the same uninterrupted gains.
How is this possible? Simply, muscle confusion isn't the miracle worker it pretends to be! If muscle building is your goal, then you should follow proven scientific principles, which state: Exercise + Nutrition + Recovery = Muscle Gains These same proven scientific principles were embraced by the muscle men of yesteryear, including Paul Anderson; Doug Hepburn; Marvin Eder; and Eugene Sandow - four of the strongest men to ever stride the planet...
No finer roll-call could you wish to see! So why the confusion? Myth or Mystery This myth persists because the typical trainee either exercises too much, fails to feed properly, or doesn't receive enough quality rest.
These 3 muscle building elements must be in place, or the typical trainee will struggle to see significant results, as muscle building is a delicate balancing act with each part dependent on the other.
However, get this balancing act right, and any gains are guaranteed...
Indeed, the same unchanged routine - when scientifically applied - will often deliver spectacular results! In Summary While there is some value in replacing one proven mass building exercise for another, muscle building will only occur when you consistently add weight to your exercises and supplement your routine with the required nutrition and rest.
Muscle confusion will never magically trick your body into growing bigger muscles, just as The Tooth Fairy won't really slip any silver under your pillow! Instead, focus on what works and you will never be 'confused'.
