How to Use the Internet on an AT&T GoPhone

    • 1). Determine the extent of your Internet usage before buying a data package. AT&T has two available for users, the 1 MB package or the 100 MB package. Choose the smaller package for light, infrequent use of the Internet. If you are a heavy user or you have a smart phone, you should opt for the bigger package. This prevents a charge for each additional megabyte over the 1 MB. AT&T charges $10 per megabyte used outside of the plan (as of April 2011).

    • 2). Navigate your cell phone menu to the "MediaNet" icon. MediaNet is the Web browser for your GoPhone. Click the icon. You are directed to the MediaNet homepage.

    • 3). Use the search box on the MediaNet homepage to navigate the Web. This function works just as it would on a desktop computer. To go to a specific website, click the button to the left of the main select button. It's usually marked "Options." A menu appears. Scroll down to "Go To" and click it. On the next screen, type in your URL and press the "Select" option. The next screen displays the website you wanted.

    • 4). Get a Web browser like the one you use on the desktop computer. From here, you can download a browser (Google, Yahoo!, etc.) in the form of a mobile application. Once the application is installed, click the browser icon to go online via the GoPhone.
