Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, is one of the most northern cities in the United Kingdom that lies at the mouth of the River Ness.
It's a popular holiday destination for British and international tourists alike, who want to camp in the stunning scenery or stay in one of the beautiful hotels in Inverness.
The proximity of the city to the nearby mythological Loch Ness has lured plenty of inquisitive travellers over the year.
Tourists are always enchanted by the legend of the Loch Ness Monster 'Nessie'.
The loch, which is deeper than the BT Tower, is said to be home to the creature and the place of sightings which the scientific community widely regard as hoaxes.
In the 1930s the Secretary of State for Scotland issued and order to prevent police attacks on the animal, after the first few reported sightings lead to international attention.
Despite an extensive search commissioned by the BBC, there was no trace of any creature in the Loch Ness in 2003, which has lead people to claim the monster doesn't exist.
There are a couple of explanations behind the numerous spottings of 'Nessie' which themselves are an impressive sight.
Due to the long and straight nature of the loch, it is subject to some strange occurrences like a seiche.
This is when the water is blown to one side of the lake, which creates a wave when the water returns to normal depth.
This happens every half an hour at Loch Ness.
Inverness is one destination on the Caledonian Sleeper, one of Britain's two sleep trains that excites travel enthusiasts throughout the country.
The legendary train leaves Euston Station each night, sprinting through the most spectacular scenery on the way.
In the winter you can ski on the Cairngorm Mountains or stroll around the Black Isle Wildlife Park, regardless of the season.
There are plenty of whisky distilleries, popular with tourists who want to learn about how whiskey is made and try a dram or two! Inverness has so much to offer that you'll be exhausted from exploring the area.
After just one day you'll be craving the luxury offered by hotels in Inverness: a comfy bed, a nice bath and a relaxing evening.
