Connection Problems

• The Silent Knight 2730 sends signals to a central station via a telephone line or Internet connection. If there is a problem with the phone or Internet connection, your home will not be monitored and could experience an emergency but there will be no emergency response. Although the Silent Knight 2730 will not notify the monitoring company if there is a break-in and the connection is down, it will still emit an audible alarm which might be heard by your neighbors.
  
  

Testing Weekly

• The manufacturers of the Silent Knight 2730 recommend that owners test the alarm system weekly. This will usually involve calling the alarm monitoring company to tell them that you are going to be performing a test, notifying neighbors that your alarm will be making noise and they should ignore it, closing all doors and windows, entering the test mode, setting off the alarm and then turning the alert off. Many owners will find this procedure to be too cumbersome and will be reluctant to go through all these steps weekly.
  
  

"Listen In" Module

• One of the available accessories for the alarm system allows the central station to listen to what is going on inside the house, which should help them determine if a burglary is being committed. If used responsibly and appropriately, this accessory will not be a problem. However, the employees of the alarm monitoring company will have the ability to invade your privacy and listen to everything that goes on inside your home at any time.
  
  

False Alarms

• One of the biggest complaints about all alarm systems is the problem of false alarms. If the Silent Knight 2730 sends several false alerts to the alarm monitoring company, it might be their policy to charge your account. If the local police or fire station answers several alarms at your house, your address can be put on a list of alarms to ignore in the future. Monitoring Contract

• Many alarm monitoring contracts last for a year or more, so if you are unhappy with the company for any reason, you may not be able to change your service provider. If you do plan on installing a Silent Knight 2730, thoroughly research the reputations of the alarm monitoring companies that are available to you.
