How to Remove Burnt Grease From Silicone
- 1). Place the stained silicone item at the bottom of a plugged sink or tub.
- 2). Pour in the dish soap and enough boiling water to cover the silicone completely. For larger cake pans, you might have to boil a couple of large pots of water.
- 3). Whisk the hot water to build up suds, then leave the bakeware to soak for a couple hours or even overnight.
- 4). Remove the wet silicone and generously sprinkle baking soda over the grease-stained areas.
- 5). Scrub the baking soda into the grease with a non-abrasive scrubber to create a paste with the residual water.
- 6). Leave the baking soda paste on the surface of the silicone to dry to a crust.
- 7). Place the baking soda crusted item on the top rack of the dishwasher and run a normal cycle without heated dry.
- 8). Reapply the baking soda to the still-wet silicone if the grease remains after the first cycle. Some thicker spots may require three or more baking soda paste treatments to fully remove them without causing damage.
