What Are Some Good Ideas for a 17th Birthday?

    Go-Kart Party

    • Invitations can be sent out via mail, email or even using social networking websites for a fun day of go-karting. Do some research and compare local go-kart tracks to find the best price to fit your budget. These locations typically offer party packages which can include lunch, a cake and decorations. Be sure to notify the go-kart track of how many friends your teen will be bringing.

    Dinner at a Nice Restaurant

    • Ask your about-to-be 17 year old to pick two to four of his or her closest friends and take them to dinner at a nice restaurant in your area. You don't have to worry about the mess of cleaning up or dealing with noisy kids in your home after everyone is finished eating. Contact the restaurant ahead of time to find out if you need to make reservations.

    Pool Party

    • If your teen has a summer birthday and you have access to a pool at your home or the local pool club, a pool party is a great way to beat the heat and enjoy your teen's birthday. If you don't have a pool at your home, contact your local pool club to inquire whether it hosts parties. You may have to provide the food, beverage and party supplies for decorations.

    Backyard Barbecue

    • Host a barbecue birthday bash for your teen and his friends. You can make "mocktails" by serving alcoholic-free mixed drinks such as punches, smoothies or other frozen sweet drinks anyone is sure to enjoy. Ask for assistance from your teen in planning the party so he can learn responsibility in the process. As most teenagers acquire their driver's license by the 17th birthday, you can have the birthday boy run errands to pick up needed items for his barbecue party.
