    • 1). Remove the plastic shower curtain from the packaging. Spread the curtain out on a flat surface.

    • 2). Cut the shower curtain in half lengthwise with sharp scissors to create the banner. You can make two banners if you like with the two parts. Alternatively, tuck the second piece away to use later.

    • 3). Position the first metal eyelet three inches from the left end of the banner. Place the smooth part of the eyelet on top and the sharp cap underneath. Match up the two pieces and squeeze them together. Use a pair of pliers if needed. The eyelets will cut out a small circle from the curtain. Remove it and throw it away.

    • 4). Add another eyelet every 1 1/2 feet along the top of the banner. This will make the banner easy to hang.

    • 5). Spread newspaper down on a table. Lay the banner on top of the newspaper.

    • 6). Use a pencil to write a message to your teen. Include her name in the message.Examples would be "You Rock, Jane! or "Happy Birthday, Princess!" Use different types styles to achieve different looks. Use puffy or block letters for a fun funky look. Use calligraphy-style lettering for a more sophisticated look.

    • 7). Squirt craft paint on a foam plate. Use a sponge brush applicator to paint the letters on the banner. This type of applicator gives you a nice wide line. Allow the paint to dry about 30 minutes.

    • 8). Squirt a contrasting paint color on a second foam plate. Draw swirl shapes or musical notes or other images that relate to your teen's interests or personality. Allow this paint to dry about 30 minutes.

    • 9). Run the fishing line through the eyelets to hang the banner on a wall or over a doorway. Place 1-iinch screws into the wall or tape the banner up by the fishing line.
