How to Make a NASCAR Press Kit
- 1). Create a biography sheet or card about your driver. List all of his driving accomplishments over the years, what racing series he has participated in and any championships he may have won. Some racers prefer to use postcard-size driver's cards with their picture and name on one side, and their accomplishments and biography on the back.
- 2). Include biographies on your team owner and crew chief and other important members of your racing organization.
- 3). Add photographs to your press kit. Media outlets usually like to run photos with the articles they write about your NASCAR team. Your kit should contain several photos, including action shots of the car, the car and the driver together and also of the driver by himself.
- 4). Write and include a cover letter in your press kit. Introduce your NASCAR team, the sponsors (if any) and the driver and outline the accomplishments you hope to achieve during the current racing season. Describe briefly your team's and your driver's -- if he is new to the team -- past accomplishments and in which of the NASCAR series you will be participating. Include information about your website, if you have one, and other standard contact information.
- 5). Include a spec sheet on your car that describes it mechanically and also lists all of your sponsors (if any).
- 6). Add a copy of your racing schedule for the year to the press kit that details where and when you will be racing.
- 7). Copy press clippings and articles about your team and driver and include them as part of your press kit.
- 8). Print out your press kit on good quality 8-by-11-1/2-inch paper. Pages with pictures on it should be printed on glossy paper. Your final kit should be presented in a folder, preferably one with your race team logo and contact information embossed on the front.
