Sandy beaches, a picturesque harbour and lots of history are just some of the things you can expect to find if you visit Tenby while on cottage holidays in Wales.
The seaside town in Pembrokeshire boasts many attractions all year round - including its three beaches, the medieval keep tower on Castle Hill and its bustling harbour - but in August visitors are in for a real treat.
Every year, the town comes alive for the Tenby Summer Spectacular.
Usually held in the first two weeks of August, it will give you a chance to see some interesting sights.
One of the highlights of the festival is the displays put on by the Tenby coastguard and Tenby RNLI.
Watching the helicopter and lifeboats perform a rescue could give you an insight into the invaluable work that the organisations carry out along this region of the Welsh coast.
If you are staying in cottages with a sea view then you may be able to watch the action from there.
Another activity that usually takes place during the Tenby Summer Spectacular is the Fireman's Carnival, so be sure to check which date the parade will take to the streets.
If you are holidaying with children then the fireworks display will be a real treat for the little ones.
Camp out on the beach to watch the bright - and loud - display over the waters of the bay before returning to your child-friendly cottages where the kids can go to bed, dreaming of the wonderful day they've had at the beach.
But the activities on offer as part of the event aren't restricted to the evening.
Tenby's harbour side will be bustling with activity during the day too, giving you plenty to occupy your time.
Most of the fun starts from 15:00 (BST) so you can easily spend a morning at the beach before exploring the town.
Alternatively, you may decide to go on an excursion to Caldey Island.
Take a boat from the harbour across to the attraction, which is in a designated conservation area.
In addition to an extensive park, it is home to an active monastery and the whole island is owned by the Cistercian Order.
