Facebook Is A Necessity
If you want to know how popular something is or how famous somebody is, all you have to do is see how quickly a movie is made about them.
That may not be a scientific fact but it is definitely pretty close to the truth.
Just look at the movie recently out called "Social Media" about the two young founders of Facebook.
Notice that right about the time the movie came out, one of the Facebook founders who are well-known for keeping their distance from the media, did an appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show and donated a massive amount of money to Chicago's public school system.
Look, all of the signs are there.
You have to be on Facebook.
Smart marketers already send out thousands of messages each day getting new people to "friend" them so they can add them to their contact list.
Then they intermittently disperse "pearls of wisdom" along with notices of their webinars and business meetings, etc.
Plus there are Facebook ads for businesses and also Facebook fan pages.
All you have to do is decide which method suits you best.
In fact, Maria Halkias, a staff writer for The Dallas Morning News, wrote an article titled "Making Facebook a Mall".
In the article, Halkias makes it very clear that not only on-line businesses, but "brick and mortar" businesses are also going after the 500 million Facebook users.
More and more business people are recognizing the power of Facebook because so many people are on Facebook daily.
They are not on any of the individual websites as steadily or in those types of numbers.
They are on Facebook.
Facebook also allows these retailers to set up virtual stores.
Now the stores are able to chat with their customers like old friends which many of them are.
So now the stores are able to hold contests, do ads, build "shop now" pages, get Facebook friends to share items with their "friends", and get Facebook friends to provide feedback to the company about their product.
I'm sure this wasn't actually the first, but the first one I noticed was Targets.
I noticed it because you could get Facebook credits in a gift card at Targets.
I was totally interested in that because when I want to take a break from business, I play...
wait for it...
wait for it...
Facebook Games like FarmVille and Café World.
I know it's embarrassing but it is so relaxing.
You can imagine my chuckling when I read Halkias' article indicating that "Zynga's FarmVille and Café World have taken off faster on Facebook than retailing".
What do think the businesses and stores are going to do with that information? Well, of course, they are already on top of that.
Now, they are trying to find ways to get the business of these Facebook Gamers.
So they are offering Facebook credits instead of discounts and coupons.
Usually the credits costs the business people very little but the gamers have to either give up the email addresses of their friends or agree to accept emails from the business for the free Facebook credits.
So far even as a serious gamer, I have been able to resist the lure to give up the email addresses of my friends, but my own email is running over.
So just imagine if it works for someone like me who knows what is happening, imagine how it might work for someone who is not studying network marketing.
If you haven't used Facebook to sell your business, you have got to get on board.
You have got 500 million people on Facebook who can go to Facebook stores, Facebook games, and Facebook malls and can click on a button to make a purchase without ever leaving Facebook.
Facebook is a must-have, inevitable marketing tool.
