How to Get Green Algae off of a Patio
- 1). Fill a pump sprayer with one part cleaner and one part water. If you are cleaning a wooden patio, use a biodegradable wood cleaner. A masonry cleaner will suffice for a concrete, brick or stone patio.
- 2). Spray down the patio with a garden hose, then spray the cleaner evenly across space.
- 3). Scrub the patio down with a nylon-bristled push brush to remove algae and other grime from the surface.
- 4). Rinse the cleaner and algae off of the patio with the garden hose.
- 5). Mix one part borate with five parts water in a plastic bucket. Integrate the borate and water with an electric drill fit with a paint-mixing paddle.
- 6). Transfer the borate and water solution into a pump sprayer, then spray it evenly over the patio. The solution will protect against future rot and prevent further growth of algae. Wait at least 48 hours for the patio to dry before re-staining.
