How to Connect an Underground Sprinkler
- 1). Locate the sprinkler where you want to connect to the system. Make sure the system is not running or scheduled to run while you work.
- 2). Remove the dirt surrounding the sprinkler head by digging a 6-inch perimeter with a hand shovel.
- 3). Grab the sprinkler head and turn the entire sprinkler body counterclockwise until it releases from the small PVC riser underground.
- 4). Remove the small PVC riser by turning it counterclockwise until it releases from the supply line.
- 5). Insert the new, 12-inch sprinkler riser into the supply line, turning it clockwise until tight.
- 6). Attach a PVC hose adapter to the top of the riser. This will be the connection point for the garden hose or other attachment.
- 7). Replace the dirt around the PVC riser, and attach the garden hose to the adapter.
