How to Make Bug Costumes Without Any Sewing
- 1). Measure from the edge of one shoulder to the edge of the other shoulder across the back. Sit on a chair and measure from the bottom of the neck to the back.
- 2). Lay craft paper or brown paper bags down on a flat surface. Draw a "T" with the horizontal line of the "T" being the shoulder-to-shoulder measurement and the vertical line being the neck-to-chair measurement.
- 3). Starting at one edge of the top line, draw half an oval. The top of the oval will be missing.
- 4). Cut the half oval out to the vertical line. Fold paper in half and trace the oval on the other side. Cut the rest of the oval out.
- 5). Lay fabric out on a flat surface, right side down.
- 6). Trace the oval onto the fabric twice. Cut out, leaving 1/2-inch seam allowance beyond trace line.
- 7). Lay one of the ovals right side up on a large towel.
- 8). Lay fabric adhesive on the outer edge of the tracing line. Leave the top open.
- 9). Lay the other oval on top of the first oval with the fabric adhesive, matching the top edges.
- 10
Follow the instructions for the fabric adhesive, and use the iron to steam the edges. - 11
Turn the oval inside out. Press the edges flat. Lay the batting on a flat surface, trace the oval onto the batting and cut. Put the batting into the bug back through the hole at the top. - 12
Close the top with fabric adhesive, following the adhesive instructions. Decorate the outside of your bug according to its type - 13

Elastic should be on a diagonal in each direction. Glue pipe cleaners to a headband for antennae. Put on over sweat suit. - 1). Lay cardboard out on a flat surface. and draw the shape of the wings for your bug. Cut out cardboard.
- 2). Decorate your wings to match your bug. If you use paint, put black or colored duct tape around the edges of the wings to prevent wear and tear. If you use iridescent fabric, stretch the fabric over the topside of the wing; then glue it to the underside with hot melt glue.
- 3). Cut a small piece of cardboard, half the size of your shoulder-to-shoulder measurement and about 6 inches wide. Glue the wings to this piece of cardboard.
- 4). Measure from the top of your shoulder to the bottom of your rib cage, around the front of your body. Cut two lengths of elastic to this measurement.
- 5). Glue ends of elastic to top and bottom of the wings on either side of the small piece of cardboard. Cut a Styrofoam ball in half. Glue the halves of the ball to a headband or hood and decorate as eyes. Put on over sweat suit.
