How to Frame a Sweet Pea Trellis
- 1). Select two garden stakes that are the height you want your trellis to be, plus 12 inches. The extra 12 inches will go underground to hold the trellis upright.
- 2). Lay the garden stakes on a flat surface. Place the netting or lattice on top of the framing stakes and adjust the stakes so they are just under the outer edges of the trellis. The trellis material should begin 13 inches from the bottom of the stakes.
- 3). Use a hammer to drive nails through the lattice or openings in the trellis netting and into the stake framing. Place one nail every 6 inches on both sides of the trellis.
- 4). Pick up the trellis and drive the pointed end of the stakes, which now act as the frame, into the ground to a depth of 12 inches.
