    • 1). Identify the Adam Koch Fuchsia by its single corolla and pink sepals. The deciduous leaves are small and green. This plant puts out decorative berries and weeps. It grows from 2 ½ to 6 feet in height and can get up to 3 feet wide. It blooms in the late summer to early fall.

    • 2). Plant the Adam Koch Fuchsia in the sun. In areas with cooler summers, it can tolerate full sun, but in areas with longer, hotter summers, plant it in partial shade. The soil should be a mixture of sandy loam to loam with a pH of 5 to 7. Mulch it heavily if you live in an area with cold winters.

    • 3). Water the Adam Koch Fuchsia with a deep watering of at least an inch per week. Keep the soil moist, even if you have to do more than one deep watering per week. The soil should be moist up to 18 inches deep. This will ensure that the deeper roots get the benefit of water and nutrients.

    • 4). Prune old, dead, broken or decaying branches in the spring. Plants that were left out in an area with mild winters will have a bit more pruning needed than if the plant was kept inside throughout the winter.

    • 5). Fertilize the Adam Koch Fuchsia with a water-soluble, quick release fertilizer every two weeks or as indicated on the packaging. You can also use an organic fertilizer such a fish emulsion. If you use organic, read the instruction on the package, as different brands many have different strengths.
