How to Recover Phone Contacts
- 1). Contact your mobile provider. All data on your mobile phone is stored and maintained by your cell phone company. Each company has its own servers that house the data from each of their customers. While not all companies willingly restore lost data, given the data outages experienced by T-Mobile Sidekick users, companies are more willing now to help you maintain your phone. So if you contact the customer service number of your cell phone provider, ask them to restore your deleted or erased phone contacts.
- 2). View your phone records online and copy the numbers into your address book. If your cell phone provider is unwilling to restore your deleted information, you may need to manually re-enter all of your contact data by viewing your previous and current cell phone bills online. Although the names are not included, you will at least be able to access the numbers that you've dialed recently. This will help you begin the restoration process and help you to begin recovering your phone contacts.
- 3). Reset your sim card. If your data was stored on your sim card, you will be able to reset your device and restore the deleted data. This may involve purchasing a sim card data recovery software program, such as Pro Data Doctor or Micron's data recovery program. These programs work with the use of sim card reader and use a form of forensics techniques to recover your phone contact data.
- 4). Find out if your cell phone provider offers a backup service. All of the major cell phone companies, including Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T, offer a backup service so that you never have to worry about losing all of the contacts on your phone. For a minimal fee, your data is backed up and all of your contact information may be restored very quickly and easily.
- 5). Post a message on your Facebook, MySpace, and other web accounts. If all else fails, you may need to contact all of your family and friends to recapture their information. Although it may be time consuming and may not result in complete recovery of your phone contact list, at least you can retrieve some of the most important contact information by posting a notice on your social networking sites, blogs, etc.
