Why Do Good Girls Like Bad Boys?
This is a question that many parents would like the answer to! For their entire childhood, their daughter has been a model of propriety. She's never caused a moment's anxiety and has always followed the rules. Always--right up until the day that she discovered boys that is--and bad boys in particular.
One of the main reasons for a good girl to be attracted to a bad boy is the sense of adventure she sees in him. She's always played it safe. With him, she sees another part of life that seems fun, and it's working for him--and if it works for him, she thinks it'll work for her! There are however two kinds of bad boys, there are those who like to flirt with danger (perhaps smoke cigarettes), and then there are those who are just dangerous (do drugs). They sound similar, but for the girls who love them, they are two very different kinds of people.
Good girls who love the bad boys who like to play hard, the guys who flirt with the flames of danger but never quite get their wings burned, usually end up with a different kind of permanent partner. They have a relationship with the bad boy, they have a little adventure, some experiences to remember when they're older, and then they return to their good girl lifestyle. They settle down and conform to the standards and social norms they were raised to believe in.
The girls who chose to like the dangerous bad boys however don't have such a pretty future awaiting them. The problem is that they don't understand how their reality is until it's too late. The bad boy likes to show them off, to use them to impress their friends, and so the girl feels as if she's of value to him. She enjoys the fuss. She enjoys the lifestyle. She likes the sense of unpredictability of walking on the edge of respectability, of showing that she's not the quiet mouse that everyone always thought. Unfortunately by the time she's realized that she's not really held in any regard by the bad boy, and that he abuses her mentally, and most likely physically, she's usually too addicted to the lifestyle and culture to transition back. Those who do, seem to have a drug like dependency on this type of bad boy however, and soon find themselves in a new, but similar relationship.
If you're one of the good girls, and you have an attraction for bad guys, make sure you choose the one that flirts with danger because the other type will break not only your heart, but your spirit as well.
