    • 1). Read the directions on the cement label to determine the amount of pea gravel that can be added to the dry cement during mixing. Each brand of cement may have a different requirement for the amount of pea gravel that can be added while retaining the strength of the concrete.

    • 2). Add water to the concrete mixer in the amount specified by the cement label. Turn the mixer on.

    • 3). Pour the cement into the mixer in the amount specified on the cement label. Mix a small amount of concrete so it doesn't harden before you can apply it.

    • 4). Measure and pour in pea gravel into the cement mixer according to the label on the cement. If the cement label does not indicate how much pea gravel to add, contact the cement manufacturer for more information.

    • 5). Allow the mixer to run to combine the water, cement and pea gravel. Run for as long as suggested by the manufacturer or until the mixture is an even consistency. Add small amounts of water if necessary to get the concrete mixture thin enough to spread.

    • 6). Spread the concrete mixture using a trowel.
