How to Make Furry Boot Covers
- 1). Measure the distance loosely around the top of the boot. Add 1 inch. Measure from the top of the boot down to the point where you want the bottom edge of the fur to end. Add 1/2 inch. Cut a strip of fur as long around and as wide as these measurements.
- 2). Cut a strip of lining fabric 4 inches wide and as long around as the measurement taken in Step 1.
- 3). Fold the lining fabric in half with the right sides of the fabric together and bringing the short ends together. Sew the short ends together, making a 1/2-inch seam. Repeat the folding and sewing process for the fur strip in the same way as the lining.
- 4). Place the right side of the lining fabric against the right side of the fur. Sew the two pieces together around the top edge. Turn right-side out.
- 5). Apply a thin line of Fray Check to the bottom edges of the fur strip and the lining strip to keep the fabric from unraveling.
- 6). Slip the top, sewn edge of the fabric pieces over the top edge of the boot, with the lining fabric on the inside of the boot and the fur on the outside.
- 7). Glue the lining fabric to the inside of the boot. Allow the fur to hang freely on the outside of the boot, or glue in place with fabric glue.
- 1). Cut a strip of fur 5 inches wide and as long around as the top edge of the boot.
- 2). Fold the fur and sew the short edges together as in Step 3 for a cuff.
- 3). Fold the fur circle in half lengthwise, with fur showing on the outside. Glue the wrong sides of the fur together with fabric glue.
- 4). Apply Fray Check to the raw edge of the fur circle.
- 5). Slip the circle over the top of the boot and allow it rest freely around the ankle, or glue it in place with fabric glue.
