Loose Updo

• An "updo" hairstyle is achieved by pinning the hair above the neck. A loose updo is a less formal hairstyle than a tighter updo, and can be modified to complement different face shapes. The style is created by sweeping pieces of hair back in sections and pinning it loosely in the back, or piling it loosely on the top of the head. Usually with this style, large curls will be held in place with decorative combs or pins, and tendrils or slightly styled bangs will surround the face.
  
  

Long Curls

• If the teen has long hair, long soft curls will frame her face. Part hair in the middle and start curls halfway down, to the ends of the hair. This style works well with a tiara because the long hair won't be hidden by a veil, and it can also be styled by teasing the hair in back and showcasing the tiara. If a teen prefers this style but doesn't have long hair, add hair extensions to create this look.
  
  

Ponytail

• For teens not wanting something as formal as an updo but who still want something a little fancier than wearing it down, the side or back ponytail is a choice that is both relaxed and elegant. It can be made loose or smooth, depending on what is more complementary to the face. Ponytails are easy to buy and attach for someone that doesn't have the length for the ponytail they want.
  
  

Chignon

• If the teen is really going for the elegant look, Chignons and other smooth updos are an option. This look is created with a roll of hair at the nape of the neck that is secured with a decorative piece. Often small flowers or beads with be woven through the hair for added elegance. Give the front long, soft tendrils, or smooth all the hair back.
