Maybe you hadn't heard but Mao's grandson is now a general in the Chinese Military, which begs the question; is China going to go back or forward? Many military analysts wonder, as do I.
Today, China now has five times as many jet fighters as India, and almost as many as the USA, soon they will surpass us.
Meanwhile, they also have as many ships in there Navy as the United States and are building many new aircraft carriers.
What is going on behind closed doors, secret meetings, and amongst the upper echelon of both the US leadership and Chinese military leadership and political centralized government is something few know.
But if you are wondering the dangers that are involved all the way around, I'd like to recommend a spy novel, and political fictional thriller.
The book is called; "The Altman Code," a Covert One Series Novel by Robert Ludlum and Gayle Lynds; St.
Martin's Griffin Publishing, New York, NY; 2003; ISBN: 0-312-28990-1.
In this book, a US Vice President deeply involved in the Industrial Military Complex is looking forward to a cold-war with China.
At the same time others were looking for normalizing relations with the Chinese, and de-escalating any left-over animosity from the old guard Military of the Mao generation, Red China Army Communists.
One of the main characters on the Chinese side is Niu Jianxing, a new generation leader, looking for treaties and to get along with the West, with trade, economic prosperity, and human rights, and he battles with another main Chinese character; Wei Gaofan who sets up and stages a conflict which could lead to a new cold-war and eventually war, he is very much into the old way of thinking; Communism as it was under Mao.
The best line of the book perhaps it this one; "Forward into the unknown future or go back to an unworkable past.
" This book really makes you think, written in 2003, but something that could literally happen tomorrow.
Please consider buying and reading this book, it is yet, another great Covert One Series Novel.
