Resurfacing a Cracked Cement Pad
- 1). Line the edges of the cement pad with two-by-four form boards to keep the cement from escaping when pouring it.
- 2). Hammer the wooden stakes into the ground directly against the form boards to keep them still while you are working.
- 3). Remove large pieces of broken cement from the pad and dispose of them. These areas will be filled in with the new cement that you are going to pour.
- 4). Sweep and mop the cement pad thoroughly to remove all dirt, dust and debris. Make sure that the area is completely dry before continuing.
- 5). Apply a generous layer of acrylic block fill primer on the cement pad with a paintbrush. Directly after you apply the acrylic block fill primer, your assistant should use a paint roller to push the primer into the pores of cement for better adhesion of the new cement. Check the manufacturer's directions to determine the exact drying time, as it can vary between brands, and allow the primer to dry completely.
- 6). Combine the cement in small batches, following the manufacturer's directions carefully.
- 7). Pour the mixed cement over the cracked cement pad, working from one side of the area to the other. Make sure that you pour plenty of cement into the areas where you removed large broken pieces, so that the hole will be filled. The cement will flow and level as you work.
- 8). Allow the cement to cure for three or four days until it is completely dry before walking on it.
