What Are the Cranial Nerve Nuclei?

Definition:
Collections of neurons that receive ("sensory nuclei") and send ("motor nuclei") information involved in the control of the different cranial nerves.
Most cranial nerves have their nuclei in the brainstem. These include cranial nerves III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI and XII.
Examples: Cranial nerve IX has its nucleus in the medulla.
