Columbus Day Cryptogram Fun

Fun filled crytograms perfect for an exciting Columbus Day party. If you make one yourself, you might want to design it to fit the theme of Columbus Day. Try using words like patriotic, and the names of the ships, like the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria.

More often than not, most people find a cyrptogram to be difficult. But when given the proper clues, your guests should be able to solve them easily. The clue might be a saying, or a famous part of a speech. It might be part of a song, or the title of a song or television show. It can be anything you want it to be. Then, a code is set up so that all the letter "e's." for example, are now going to be shown as "f"s." In fact, each letter of the saying or title will be substituted for another one. When it is shown to your guests, it may look something like this: "Eo vu ezu vuke cop zlhu eo vule ezu vuke." This has been coded for the cryptogram, but it actually says, "To be the best you have to beat the best." Your guests will just have to solve the code.

To play the cryptogram games each of the party guests should have their own note pad and pencil for the activities. And you, as host, will need to supply the cryptograms. Additionally, the party host can write the cryptograms on an overhead, dry erase board or blackboard.

Furthermore, most hosts will find that giving each guest party favors such as patriotic penciles and note pads will make playing the game much easier. This will encourage them all to play along. Additionally, having a variety of prizes or party favors for the winners of the games will have everyone involved in the action.
