How to Fasten Tombstones in Your Halloween Cemetery
- 1). Cover a well-ventilated area with newspaper. Place the boards on the newspaper. Spray paint the boards beforehand to match the tombstones you've made. This will ensure they aren't too noticeable from behind or the side. Allow the paint to dry.
- 2). Place one of the boards flat on the work surface.
- 3). Drill holes through the wood about 1 inch from both ends of the board.
- 4). Place the second board's edge on top of first board. Position the boards so they make an "L" shape. The board with the holes should be the bottom of the "L." Use the wood glue to adhere them together. Allow the glue to dry.
- 5). Place the board behind the tombstone so that the board that you drilled the holes in is on the bottom and the ground is visible through the holes.
- 6). Hammer the tombstone to the board (if you have a wooden tombstone). Use the wood glue if you have styrofoam tombstones. Allow the glue to dry.
- 7). Position the tombstone on the lawn where you want to secure it. Hammer the spikes through the two holes to secure it to the ground.
