Word Startup

• 1). Select "Start," select "Computer," open "OS (C:)," open "Program Files," and open the "Microsoft Office" folder.
  
  
• 2). Double click "Office 12," and open the "Startup" folder.
  
  
• 3). Right-click the file "MathType Commands 6.dot" and select "delete." Now when you launch Microsoft Word, the MathType commands will not automatically load.
  
  

Deactivation within Word

• 1). Click the "Office" button from the Microsoft Word menu and select "Word Options."
  
  
• 2). Click "Add-Ins" from the left side of the pop-up menu. Click "Manage" at the bottom of the window.
  
  
• 3). Select "Word Ad-ins" and click "Go."
  
  
• 4). Remove the check from the box next to "MathType Commands" to deactivate them.
