How to Replace Tree Stand Seats

    • 1). Remove the screws holding the tree stand seat in place. Remove the seat cover and padding. Use a pair of pliers to remove the old staples. Examine the wood for cracks. If the wood is cracked or rotted, cut a new board of the same size using 1-by-12 stock.

    • 2). Lay the seat cover fabric on a flat surface. Use earth-toned or camouflage fabric for the best results. Don't use "waterproof" fabric because it will make noises when you sit on it. Fold the quilt batting so it is small enough to fit directly on top of the seat. Lay the quilt batting down on top of the fabric. Position the wooden seat so the fabric and padding will cover the top.

    • 3). Fold excess fabric to the back of the tree stand seat. Starting in the middle, use a brad nailer to staple the fabric to the seat. Work to the ends of the seat on both sides.

    • 4). Fold the ends of the fabric as if you are wrapping a present and pull the fabric to the center of the seat back. Insert staples to secure it. Repeat the process for the other side. Position the tree stand seat on the rack and replace the screws. Apply a spray coating meant to waterproof fabric.
