Bring your Christmas decor up-to-date with modern touches. Consider a white Christmas theme at your dinner table. Cover the table with a white tablecloth and set the table with white dinnerware and clear glasses. Across the center of the table lay, end-to-end, white and silver painted pine cones, beads and stars on a bed of white-sprayed evergreen branches for a picturesque arrangement. You can even complement the decor with white taper candles displayed in silver candlesticks and interspersed along the table every 12 inches.
If you need color to get into the Christmas spirit you can also use a red table runner on top of the white tablecloth. Arrange a few red and silver ornaments in no particular order along the runner. In the center stagger four crystal candle sticks. Use a gold glitter pen to write a single letter on four large, red ball ornaments that spells Noel. Balance these ornaments on top of the candlesticks. You may choose to use a dot of melted candle wax to hold them securely in place. - Use greenery in your Christmas arrangements.fruit wreath image by Peter Baxter from Fotolia.com
Use one of several methods to utilize greenery in your tabletop decorations. For instance, you can form a bed of Magnolia leaves on a decorative charger. On top of the leaves arrange colorful ornaments, pinecones, beads and berries for a display that can be moved easily or set on smaller tables. Replace your table runner with garland that has been decorated with tinsel and small ornaments. Take your Christmas wreath down from the front door and transform it into a lovely centerpiece by placing pillar candles in the center. - Awaken your inner child by using colorful, childlike pieces on your tables. Create a grouping of small wrapped gifts and place next to a lamp on an end table. Bring a touch of Christmas into your kitchen by placing nutcrackers on the counters and island. Clear bowls filled to the brim with hard candy add cheer to any room. You can also choose to display favorite dolls or toys from your youth on side tables or lean them on a small assortment of gifts prominently displayed at your dinner table for a unique touch.
