Teveten Side Effects
- Dizziness, drowsiness and lightheadedness can occur when taking Teveten because of the drop in blood pressure, especially if the patient is also taking a diuretic. Lying down for a short while after taking it can help.
- Many less common side effects are associated with Teveten. These include joint pain, runny nose or nasal congestion, headache, gas, nausea and weakness.
- Rarely, people can experience an allergic reaction to Teveten. Signs are rash, itching and severe swelling of the face, lips or tongue.
- People taking Teveten may develop high blood potassium levels, which can be dangerous. This effect can be worsened by taking Teveten with certain other medications.
- Teveten can worsen congestive heart failure and kidney disease. Teveten also is associated with raised blood triglyceride levels that can lead to cardiovascular disease.
- Pregnant women should not use Teveten during the second or third trimesters of pregnancy because the drug can cause severe birth defects or death to the developing baby.
