There's no denying the fact that lawn mowers are extremely dangerous machines. Probably amongst the most dangerous piece of equipment in your household yet they are not given the respect they deserve. How can we prevent lawn mower accidents?

It is all too common to see people mowing the lawn with little to no personal protective equipment (PPE) or worse, children mowing the lawn. The absolute worst though has to be giving small children rides on a lawn tractor, with the epitome of unsafe lawn mower use being giving a small child a ride on a lawn tractor while mowing the lawn.

Everyone is sorry and regretful when the ambulance shows up and a child has to be rushed into the ER for micro-surgery in an effort to save a limb. I'm not being over-dramatic here, there are approximately 600 amputations performed on children every year due to lawn mower accidents.

This subject needs to be taken more seriously.
