Farewell Invitation Ideas

A farewell invitation should be an indication of what kind of party the guests can expect to attend. For a formal party keep the invite simple or for a wild all-night-long farewell bash, use bright colors and interesting fonts. Tell guests what, if anything they need to bring, where the party will be and the time. Contact information and a phone number also is helpful in case anyone gets lost. - Farewell invitations for a friend or loved one embarking on a journey can be instantly interesting if you draw upon images from the destination. One idea is to create an invite in the shape of the Eiffel Tower for the Parisian traveler or choose lesser known attractions, such as a French bakery. You could use animals for an African Safari, but be careful not to use cartoons or it could look like a child's birthday invitation. Instead find a photo of an animal to represent your friend (be kind). Use actual photos, renditions you draw yourself or computer graphics.
- For the friend or loved one moving out of town, choose moving-related themes for the invitation. One idea is to print the invite on cardboard or give away tiny boxes with the printed invite inside. Try a moving van or use a photo program to doctor a photo of a moving company. Insert a blurb on the side of the moving van (the who, what, where and why of the party) and add a farewell on the movers' T-shirts. If the loved one is moving far away, use images of airplanes, boats or trains. For clever wording, there are sites online you can peruse for ideas or create it yourself. Lyrics from a favorite song or a special quote can add humor to the invitation.
- A farewell invitation for someone changing jobs can take many forms. One idea is to send out invites and have each co-worker or friend fill in a "why he or she will be missed" section. These can be collected at the party and turned into a scrapbook or keepsake of his or her time with the company. Create the invitation with pictures of him or her in the line of duty, no matter what type of work, a photo doubles as an invitation and a keepsake. Whether you create the invitation yourself or use one of the many online options for card creations, keep the theme light and be creative.
