The third thing you will notice is that you are thinking. There is a constant chatter going on. This is the hardest part to allow and notice. Because the tendency is to identify with the thinking: you believe you are the thinker of your thoughts. A thought arises and you believe you thought that thought and that thought is about you.
But to be mindful of your thoughts in meditation means that you simply allow thoughts to come and go without identifying with the thoughts.
The easiest way to do this is when a thought arises, you simply let it go. It does not matter what thought arises, you notice a thought arising, you allow it to arise and you allow it to go. You do not attach yourself to it, but rather you let it go.
Mindfulness really means to allow and notice it all without fixing on one point of reference. But you might find that it is easiest if you start by keeping your focus on watching and allowing your breathing, then bringing your focus on watching and allowing the sensations and then watching and allowing the thoughts to come and go.
