How to Paint the Inside of a Metal Shower Stall
- 1). Wash the metal thoroughly with warm water, a scrubbing sponge, and several drops of dish soap. This removes dirt or debris that's built up and also helps remove any mold that is already on the metal.
- 2). Dry the metal thoroughly with a rag. Moisture will interfere with the paint if it is not removed.
- 3). Apply masking tape to the area around the stall and lay down plastic drop cloths to prevent the paint from affecting areas you don't want painted.
- 4). Spray the metal with a primer, which will help the paint bond to the stall. Some paints won't need a primer, so check the instructions on the can to verify the particular paint's requirements. However, note that primer will also help prevent the color of the metal from showing through the paint. Allow the primer several hours to dry before continuing.
- 5). Clean the paint sprayer as the primer dries so it will have nothing but paint in it when you're painting the metal.
- 6). Apply the paint over the primer using the sprayer, or use a brush if you prefer. Paint two coats on for best results, waiting until the first coat dries before applying the second coat.
